Hello July!




We’ve had more sun this last month than we had all of last year and it's been a perfect weekend to mark the end of June, so we'd like to start by congratulating our recent newly weds who all tied the knot in the last couple of weeks.
Michelle & Josh, Rebecca & Carl, Leigh & Michael, Emily & Aaron - all of our couples had beautful days and we couldn't be happier for them. 

Duck Watch News!


We all got a little worried last week when one of our Muscovy Girls went missing - she hadn’t been seen for a little while and we had all started to think the worst.
We decided to have a little peek on Duck Island just to make sure, and lo and behold! There she was snuggled up in a cosy nest of down. We couldn’t be more excited to be expecting our first baby ducklings to the lake this year!

We’re having a love affair with Chef’s dish of the moment - pan fried Sea Bass with sesame seed & sherry prawn toast, chilli jam and mixed leaf salad. It’s deliciously light and packed full of flavour, perfect with a bottle of our Marques de Caceres Rioja Blanco.
 
And finally....
…One of our peacocks was up to no good last week when it decided to move home with an unsuspecting family. The poor victims unwittingly drove home after collecting their children from the school prom, with our naughty fowl snug in the back of their horsebox!
We bet the poor family got quite a shock the next morning, we think they’ll find having a peacock is quite an experience!
It reminded us of a very funny article in the telegraph - if you own a peacock you would have a good chuckle at this! 'I don't manage my peacock Henry...'

Summers here!



We’ve been busy preparing ourselves for the heights of wedding season, which went off with a bang this May with lovely Laura & Andrew tying the knot on Saturday 11th.
Karen & Ben followed as our Win a Wedding couple. They were treated to a beautiful day at the Mill with all of their friends and family.
Win a Wedding is a competition run through the local Gazette where couples can enter to win their dream wedding by public vote. Hornsbury Mill offered Mr and Mrs Harris with free venue hire, welcome drinks, three-course meal and a catered evening reception.

And last but most definitely not least, congratulations to Faye & Ryan who married over the bank holiday weekend and were treated to some rare beautiful sunshine!

Congratulations to our first lot of June wedding couples, Sarah & Gordon and Sam and Alex!


Father’s day is fast approaching everyone! We are now fully booked, so we look forward to seeing you all this coming Sunday!

Our Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is coming round the corner and down the rabbit hole, so don’t be late, don’t be late! It’s set to be a fun family day for all to enjoy, with games and food by the lake entertained by the unusual characters played by the Moonstone Theatre Company.
Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for children or a family ticket at £25 for two adults and two children.




Still no baby duck to be seen (however our peacocks are making enough racket!), but our Muscovy ducks are looking very loved up so watch this space!

April

In true British style we will kick this off with a grumble about the weather. It’s been a bizarre month of rain, sleet, sun, ice and bitterly cold wind - the poor ducks aren't too sure if they’re ready to bring ducklings to the lake yet!
As we speak, however, the weather is glorious and we've managed to keep the sun shining over the Mill for three consecutive days, with bated breath I think we can all agree summer is on its way! (Fingers and toes crossed)

We would like to congratulate our newly-weds who all tied the knot with us this month:
Anna & Paul – who managed to book and plan their lovely day in less than 5 weeks! Leanne & Phillip, Sue & Paul and Teresa & Terry - Each wedding was individual to the couples and all of them beautiful days. We wish them all the best for the future and hope they come and visit us with updates!

April sees the end of our current menu and as we look forward into May, Chef has some tantalising treats in store. Our most popular dishes are having a seasonal facelift with exciting new flavours and summery twists, like our Chicken – now wrapped in parma ham and stuffed with creamy brie on a bed of salad and potatoes. A new dish Chef recommends is the Sea Bass with mixed leaves and sherry sesame prawn toast – delightfully light and healthy with mouth-watering flavours.
Our desserts haven’t been left out either with a scrummy blueberry and lime posset perfect for a treat by the lake and it’s worth mentioning the double indulgence chocolate fudge cake ‘with a twist’!. We've all been nibbling on the trimmings and can happily confirm it’s delicious!



Our Tappas special is running through the summer, 4 Tappas dishes with Mediterranean breads and a bottle of wine for £30 for two! It’s a perfect light meal to enjoy by the lake in the evening or getting cosy in our bar if the weather isn't so warm. 


Our Fawlty Towers evening is fast approaching, all of the staff at Hornsbury are very excited to welcome the Moonstone Theatre Company for a night of chaos and antics. We expect it will be an evening of madness with Basil and Cybil bickering while Manuel causes bedlam in the background!
It’s not too late to book if you love the idea of terrible service! The evening is £38 per person or £78 with accommodation.

And finally we would love to say a huge good luck to our Bride and Grooms in May – Laura & Andrew, Faye & Ryan and our Win a Wedding couple Karen & Ben who managed to beat off all of the competition to have the wedding of their dreams here at Hornsbury. We couldn't be more excited for them all!


Why not come and join us for Sunday Lunch? At £9.95 for a main, it is value for money and absolutely delicious. Finish off with a scrummy dessert and a stroll round our beautiful lake... we're just waiting for some fluffy little ducklings to appear...!

News from the Mill.....


Thank you to all our wonderful suppliers and to all the people who came to our open day on Saturday 9th March; the sun was shining, the chocolate fountain was flowing and the peacocks were showing off their feathers to who ever would watch. It was a really lovely day.

To all our booked bride and grooms we hope we answered all your questions and introduced you to some brilliant wedding suppliers, im sure you would have picked up some great wedding ideas.

We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate our couples who got married with us, we hope you had the day of your dreams.
Wedding cheese cakes are becoming extremely popular; they look scrummy and go down very well with all the guests. 


Mothers day was also a huge success, in fact we were fully booked. All the food looked delicious and everyone left extremely happy.  We hope all you special mums enjoyed your day and were truly spoilt.

March Blog



We had a really lovely February here at the mill, Valentines evening was filled with beautiful red roses supplied by Sues Flowers along with many gorgeous couples enjoying an intimate candle lit dinner. We also ran our first Valentine Murder Mystery evening which again was a huge success, thank you to those who came along we hope you all enjoyed yourselves.



Spring is just around the corner, the flowers are starting to bloom, and the peacocks have got their beautifully long feathers back. We defiantly have a spring back in our step.
